Planned preventive maintenance
By definition, the technical maintenance of industrial equipment is a set of technical works carried out in the period between scheduled and unscheduled repairs of industrial equipment. This should ensure the failure-free operation of industrial systems and mechanisms. In other words, timely diagnostics of industrial equipment and correct subsequent operation of the technological assets greatly reduce the cost of repair works and machinery downtime during working cycles. Carrying out such preventive maintenance of systems and mechanisms ensures the continuity of the production process.
Such technical maintenance of industrial equipment consists of the following interrelated activities:
- timely cleaning and performance of monitoring functions to check the equipment’s functionality;
- keeping the technological assets in working order at all times;
- carrying out the technical inspection provided for in the maintenance (MRO) plans;
- daily servicing of the machinery and its units (cleaning, washing, adjustment actions (as needed), compression purging and other types of equipment repair work);
- checking the operability of systems and units.
Some maintenance works may be carried out after working hours; the rest are performed on a scheduled basis.
Industrial equipment maintenance
Equipment for industrial production is one of the dominant assets of industrial enterprises, therefore the correct use, operation and maintenance of process equipment with the aim of preserving its technical parameters is considered one of the fundamental tasks for the trouble-free operation of a high-tech industrial enterprise.
To maintain high enterprise performance, the proper organisation of industrial equipment repair and its service maintenance is required. Steadily achieving high operating indicators of the technological assets is possible only with the correct organisation of the servicing and repair of industrial equipment used in any sector of the economy. This is reflected in the prepared PPR (planned preventive maintenance) package for the enterprise’s industrial facilities.
Regulatory acts of ministries and agencies

This type of state-level act includes the documentation of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Standards, which defines the necessary GOSTs systematically applied to the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. These include GOST 18322-78 on maintenance and repair systems for industrial equipment and GOST 28.001-83 on the procedure and types of repair. These standards are adopted for execution throughout Russia and are mandatory documents for all Russian industrial enterprises.
