Rigging equipment and lifting mechanisms are used for rigging, based on the fastening of the cargo using slings to lifting equipment. In order to successfully carry out the lifting of the load and at the same time not to cause damage to the mechanisms used for work, it is necessary to take into account the weight of the moved items, usually indicated on the package, and the required lifting height.
Various devices are used to fasten objects: hooks, couches, clamps.
Depending on the features of rigging, chains, ropes, slings, flexible linen or steel ropes can be used.
From the parameters of the cargo depends on the choice of rigging equipment suitable for work:
- Tales and winches, manual or electric, reduce the required applied force to lift the load;
- Lifting mechanisms, polypasts, blocks can contain several rollers and are connected to various special lifting machines;
- Jacks, including hydraulic, pulling, rack, screw, carrying capacity of which can be up to 250 tons;
- The use of support structures to which waists and winches are suspended;
- Rigging trolleys or more spacious platforms capable of carrying cargo up to 60 tons;
- Mobile cranes;
- When lifting heavy loads, mobile portals are used, designed to move objects weighing up to 1200 tons, brands Gidrolast, Hydrospex.
The more complex the technique is used for work, the higher the qualifications of workers are required for rigging. Without documents confirming the passage of rigging appropriate training and passing the necessary instruction, the start of work is impossible. It is mandatory for all workers engaged in lifting to obtain access to rigging work and passing examinations for knowledge of safety when working with cargoes.
